While Campbell Spence sounds very positive in his report on the developments in the Middle Park shopping centre, I do not believe that the local community is supportive of it despite two positive citations.

Having lived in the area for over 30 years, I am concerned that we have lost a local news agency and a local restaurant, while we will gain a bottle shop. I believe it belongs to a chain of alcohol selling stores with another branch in South Melbourne.

There is already a hotel across the road and the additional bottle shop that is carefully rebranded as an “upscale wine store” will not add significant amenities to the community.

Please try to look behind the façade and evaluate the facilities that this development will bring to Middle Park Village. To me, it adds another step in the slow decline of our charming little shopping centre,
