City of Port Phillip will be changing from 3 wards to 9 wards for the 2024 Council elections but will still have nine councillors representing the community.  There will now be one councillor per ward. In each ward, the candidate who receives at least 51% of the votes as either first preference votes or with preferences from other candidates will be elected as the new Councillor.

If you are an existing resident ratepayer for the City of Port Phillip, you are automatically on the electoral roll to vote at the upcoming October 2024 Local Government elections. This also holds for residential renters on the electoral roll.

If you are a NON-RESIDENTIAL RATEPAYERS (see below) you need to RE-REGISTER (opt-in) to be on the Council Roll in order to receive a ballot paper and vote in the October 2024 election.

In previous elections a property owners WHO DIDN'T LIVE IN THE AREA would be automatically enrolled – NOW YOU MUST APPLY if you want to vote in the 2024 and future local council elections and by-elections.

To vote in the October 2024 Local Government Council election you must be correctly enrolled by 4 pm on Wednesday 7 August.

City of Port Phillip has already mailed out letters to non-residential ratepayers notifying them of the above including the OPT-IN to vote. If you have not received any information, please contact the Council through ASSIST on 9209 6777.
