Now is the time to vote in the Council elections if you haven’t already done so. If you haven’t received a ballot paper in the mail you should visit the Port Melbourne Town Hall and complete your ballot paper. Voting is compulsory and you must vote before by 6pm on 25th October.
If you are undecided, vote for truly independent candidates while being aware of the 'fakes'. We recommend that you vote for the four competent candidates (pictured above) who all live in their wards and are endorsed by the Residents of Port Phillip.
Beti Jay – South Melbourne Ward
Rod Hardy – Albert Park Ward
Bryan Mears - Lakeside Ward
Brendan Perera – Alma Ward
To find out more about the four candidates click on the link - https://ropp.org.au/
These candidates will represent residents and are not beholden to political parties, unions, activists and minority vested interests.
They have not signed any pledges to support and fund groups that seek to put their snouts in the Council’s money trough.
They have not signed pledges to a union to grow Council jobs, remove carparking, construct bicycle infrastructure that destroys the livelihood of small businesses, remove heritage protections to allow high density housing and duplicate services that are the responsibility of state and federal governments.
If enough like-minded candidates are elected, they will deliver:
- Immediate rates freeze without cutting services. Efficiencies can be found by cutting wasteful spending and focusing on getting the basics right like waste collection, sports grounds and facilities, parks and gardens, street and beach cleaning.
- Cleaner and safer streets with thriving shops, cafes, restaurants and hotels, free of antisocial behaviours, street campers and drugs. Advocate for more police resources and improve local laws.
- Protect heritage of our iconic and beautiful suburbs. Stop inappropriate development.
- Improve Council’s customer services and rebuild trust in delivering excellent services and stop the frustration we often experience.
- Sensible outcomes for residents. They will support residents rather than doing the bidding of political parties and vested minorities.
Vote for independent candidates who are not members of any political parties and live in your ward. Check out the candidates in your ward https://www.vec.vic.gov.au/voting/2024-local-council-elections/port-phillip-city-council/nominations
